Member of the month september 2023: Brunngård Group

Meeting challenges with added value together with an attractive assortment, says Member of the Month, Brunngård Group, is important to develop in the industry. The family business, which was started in 1983, is among other things a full-range supplier of shoe care products and works towards the values "Reuse" and "Active lifestyle". We have interviewed Paul himself who tells us more about the products, the idea behind them and the development going forward.

Tell us about Paul Brunngård!
Brunngård was established by the Brunngård family in 1983 outside the fashion and textile city of Borås. Right from the start, the company has been characterized by a true entrepreneurial spirit and a strong commitment. We have always gone one step further to be able to offer the best for the customer. The company quickly became a full range supplier of shoe care products, shoe accessories, socks and slippers and soon developed the first own brand Springyard during the 90s.

Since 2002, Paul Brunngård has been the second generation to run the business.

– By being responsive and innovative, the company has a reputable name and several internationally sought-after brands today, says Paul. We have always been careful to hold on to our unique heritage. In recent years, Brunngård has broadened its offering significantly to focus on a wide range of products that support the development of an “active lifestyle” and a society that is based on “reuse”. Today’s portfolio consists of seven own brands and alongside these private label solutions are offered. In addition, a number of external brands are included as an important complement.

Tell us more about your products and the idea behind them?
Our products support “reuse” and an “active lifestyle”. In the spring of 2023, Linda Trostek was appointed as the new CEO after having worked in the business for a few years. Paul Brunngård will continue to be involved in business and product development in the company. – “Reuse” means taking care of and extending the life of what already exists, says Linda. This is exactly what our products contribute to, she continues. Products within “After Care” both protect, nurture and extend the life of everything from shoes and clothes to bags, equipment, furniture and the like. In turn, this supports more sustainable consumption. Within the product category “Active lifestyle”, the company collects products such as technical soles, slip protection, foot aids and sports protection. All products inspire people to a healthy lifestyle and increased well-being, which ultimately contributes to a more sustainable future.

How do you work with sustainability?
Brunngård has worked with sustainability for many years, it is a central and pronounced part of the company’s business concept on all levels. As early as 2007, PFAS was phased out in impregnation sprays and the company was the first in the industry to do so. Product development is driven with an obvious focus on environmentally friendly products.

What does your industry look like today and how do you see the development going forward?
We meet challenges with added value. The company primarily operates in the shoe and sports industry, but the grocery store and the health food industry are also important target groups. Retail is, as everyone knows, facing major challenges. Brunngård works hard to meet these challenges with important added values that are relevant both digitally and in physical trade. The company also strives towards a sustainable future by offering an attractive range of products.
